About Me

My qualifications for the role of SMUD Director are rooted in both my professional background and my dedication to community service. I bring a wealth of experience in leadership, policy advocacy, and strategic planning. My background in working in state government and in the energy industry has equipped me with the skills necessary to make informed decisions and drive impactful initiatives. I have a proven track record of collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals, and I am committed to applying these skills to advance SMUD's mission of providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions.

Furthermore, my commitment to addressing environmental justice issues aligns closely with SMUD's goals. I am dedicated to ensuring that all communities, especially those historically marginalized, benefit from equitable access to clean energy and innovative solutions. My vision for SMUD includes expanding renewable energy initiatives, enhancing energy efficiency programs, and advocating for policies that support economic and environmental sustainability.

In addition to my volunteer work, I have served as a mentor for youth, guiding them through their own journeys of empowerment. This experience has been incredibly fulfilling, as I have had the privilege of witnessing their growth and success while helping them navigate the challenges unique to their experiences. Through mentoring, I strive to inspire the next generation of leaders, ensuring that they have the tools and confidence to make a difference in their communities.

I currently serve as a commissioner on the City of Sacramento’s Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy Commission. In addition, I proudly sit on the boards of the YMCA of Superior California, PBS KVIE, and the Sacramento State Alumni Association.

I hold a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University, an MBA from California State University, Sacramento, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Georgia State University. In 2017, I was honored to be a Fair Housing and Social Inclusion Fellow certified by the University of California, Davis. I am also a Senior Fellow of the Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program, a member of the 2021 class of Leadership Sacramento, a Leadership California CIT alumnus, and currently in class XXIX of American Leadership Forum.

Throughout my career, I’ve been recognized with several honors, including Sacramento Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award, Diversity MBA’s Top 100 Under 50 Emerging Leaders, Sac Cultural Hub’s Exceptional Women of Color Excellence Award, Sacramento Bee’s Top 25 Black Change Makers, the National Black MBA Association – SF/Bay Area Chapter’s Emerging Leaders Award, and 2023 MetroEdge Young Professional of the Year by the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

I’m deeply committed to uplifting my community and bringing innovative solutions to the challenges we face.
